When Paul Poiret (1879-1944), considered first fashion’s genius, in 1911 designed the first pants for women, calling them the jupe-coulotte, caused an international sensation scandalizing people. They were considered unfeminine and outrageous and were often worn with a skirt over the top or they were so wide-legged like a skirt.

But this was the first step toward women’s pants!
